As we have all probably figured out by now, paint does wonders for a room and it really is a fairly simple and inexpensive way to transform a tired space. The hardest part of painting a room is choosing the new color! It is nearly impossible to hold a paint chip to the wall and visualize what the outcome will be. Lighting will also make a huge difference. Do you have plenty of natural light or is your room on the shady side of your home? I almost always purchase a sample of my chosen color so that I can paint a small area and watch it throughout the day, as the sun comes up and sets in the evening. It will definitely take on different hues and change quite a bit. Some colors are so darn tricky too! I had a gray/blue sample once that I was so sure would be my color, but when I painted the test swatch on the wall, it didn't look gray at all, just very blue! Too blue for my liking! Paint samples are well worth your time and money. There's nothing worse than having gallons of specially mixed paint that you cannot return.
So that's my two cents on painting and getting it right the first time. Our master bedroom and bathroom were both recently updated with paint and the color I chose for both rooms is Titanium by Benjamin Moore. I'm happy with the outcome and the fresh, clean feeling it has created. The other changes to the bathroom were minimal. I have new curtains my mother-in-law made for me with fabric I purchased and of course new towels and washcloths. I decided to add a towel bar over the bathtub as well. And so there you have it, a simple update with paint being the star of the show! Here are my before and after photos! Enjoy!
